Wichita Falls 2023: Dr. Jonathan Price Midwestern State

We got to be at the SWS AAPG Annual Convention this year in Wichita Falls. What a great history, great community, and a great time - Enjoy this show with Dr. Jonathan Price, Chair & Prothro Distinguished Professor of Geological Science at Midwestern State University. More on Dr. Price below!

I study mass and energy transfer in the Earth's interior, assessing chemical signals in rocks to understand partial melting, crystallization, and alteration processes. I am keenly interested in the nature and origin of high-temperature systems closely associated with magmatism (volcanoes and plutons). I have applied these techniques to diverse systems such as the Adirondack Mountains of New York, the Cascade Mountains of Oregon, the Seridó Fold Belt of Brazil, and the Wichita Mountains of Oklahoma.

I encourage student involvement in my research endeavors. I am an active member of MSU's successful UGROW program where undergraduate students engage in research during the Summer I term.

Specialties: Mineral and rock identification and petrology; pore space and geometry assessment; fluid-rock interactions; application and maintenance of X-ray and optical spectrometry and diffractometry, and electron and polarized optical microscopy;
Intranetworking and webhosting; virtual instrumentation
